April catch-up

this month has flown by and i can't believe that may is just around the corner. it has finally gotten to be nice weather here in baltimore. been so cold for so long! the girls and i were starting to get cabin fever. we have been outside until late every single day for the last week. over the weekend, we took them to see thomas the train for the first time and to the park today for a picnic. needless to say, our babies have been sleeping well at night!

It won't be like this for long...........

on wednesday, i visited the pre-school that preslee and mason are going to be starting in september. it was amazing and absolutely perfect for them. but, i have to admit, i got pretty teary as i watched all the kids running around and playing. i could just picture the girls there in a few months, making friends, learning new things and becoming more and more independent by the day. then we came home and they both woke up from their naps with their grumpy pants on. there were lots of tears and tantrums, don't know why, but there were and then finley decided she would jump in too. by the time drew came home, they were all three crying and i was about to join them. as drew and i were trying to juggle them and stop the tears, we just looked at each other and started to laugh. i said to him, "one day, our house will be so so quiet, we won't know what to do with ourselves." grab your kleenex, crank up the volume and listen to the words of this video. it won't be like this for long.......

Our 5 Year Anniversary

april 17, 2009,
our 5 year wedding anniversary. tomorrow, drew and i will have been married half a decade. it's hard for me to remember a time when we weren't together. together we have accomplished so much. we are the proudest parents of 3 beautiful little girls and in a few months we will be moving into our dream home.

one of my good friends shared a tradition with me that she and her husband do every year on their anniversary and drew and i decided to adopt it. every year we will share three words with each other that describe the past year of our marriage. my words this year, were tested, rewarding and united. this year has been one of the most challenging years of our marriage as we often stumbled through parenting two babies who are now truly toddlers, all while juggling other priorities. it has also been one of the most gratifying years as we welcomed sweet finley to our family and as we continue to invest in our friendship, while enjoying our three greatest loves, preslee, mason and finley.

in honor of our 5 years together, here are the 5 things i love most about drew:

1. his integrity: i am not sure that i have ever met anyone with more character. some people will demonstrate different virtues when in different situations, but not drew. drew pursues the same excellence and integrity in every situation.

2. his commitment to our family: drew works so hard to allow me the opportunity to stay home with the girls. he sees it as a privilege to provide for us.

3. his sense of humor: he always knows how to make me laugh even when i think there isn't a smile left in me.

4. his fatherhood: he is the best father that i know and he loves it. it shows in all he does for the girls. he wrestles on the floor, changes diapers, even the poopy ones, wipes away their tears, holds finley for hours every night until she falls asleep, gets up in the middle of the night when preslee or mason needs their nose wiped or a drink of water and faithfully prays for his girls. he strives to be a role model that they can always look up to and he is their hero.

5. his friendship: i am so thankful for drew's friendship. he listens, he comforts, he laughs even when i am not really funny, he cries when it matters the most and he is fiercely loyal. he is the best friend that anyone could hope for.

drew, i am so grateful for the last 5 years with you. happy anniversary honey! i love you and i can't wait to see what the next 5 years will bring for us.

Jesus Loves Me

preslee and mason love to sing! i can sing a song to them once or twice and the next thing i know, they are singing it back to me. today, i caught mason singing one of their favorites. this makes my heart melt!

Happy 3 months Finley!

my sweet baby finley,

for nine months, i imagined what you might look like and how you would feel in my arms. then suddenly the wait was over and all i could do was stare at you as tears streamed down my face. you were everything i had dreamed you would be and more.

i nuzzled my cheek against your soft cheek and all of that silky brown hair-your tiny warm body fit perfectly in the crook of my arm. we were a match made in heaven. my heart melted as i stared at your beautiful brown eyes, wrinkled nose and pink lips. you were so beautiful and i just wanted to stop time and take you in. now, you are already three months old. 90 days has passed since we first introduced you to our family.

you are sleeping through the night already and nap so well in your daddy's lap. he loves that! eating has been your favorite pastime, but lately, you have been flashing that million dollar smile at anyone who glances your way. you have the deepest dimples in both cheeks and anytime you barely grin, they pop out, i love it! we are just starting to hear the first sounds of your sweet voice when you coo and laugh. the last few days, you have started to squeal too. preslee and mason love to tickle your toes and under your chin to see you smile.

there was nothing more precious than those first few minutes of life with you. but, as the days and months pass, you continue to bring us even more joy. you are nothing short of a miracle and we love you so much!

happy birthday baby!

love, mommy

Easter 2009

easter this year was even better than the last year. this year, preslee and mason were so into the easter bunny and finding eggs. it was amazing to watch the whole weekend through their eyes and then what a joy to share finley's first easter!

with all the food, bunnies and candy, it often becomes so easy to get caught up in the commercial end of any holiday. on the way home last night, drew and i were talking about how blessed we were to have three beautiful, healthy little girls. as we kissed them good night my heart ached for mary. how hard it must have been for her to watch her only son, whom she loved like any other mother does their child, die for the entire world's sins. i cry when the girls fall down or someone hurts their feelings. i can't imagine watching your child be tortured the way that jesus was. how lucky are we that jesus promises so much more than this world can offer us!

Happy Easter 2009

the weather this weekend was beautiful and we spent a lot of time outside and at the park with the girls. on sunday we decided to head to the mall for the annual easter bunny picture. i was really excited since this is finley's first easter. it brought back so many memories of the girls first easter picture when they were only three months old too. the bunny held them so sweetly and they didn't fuss at all. oh, how times have changed........

mason believes if she can't see you, then you can't see her

HAPPY EASTER!!!
