Happy 20 Months!

i can't believe that preslee and mason are 20 months old. 620 days they have brought daily smiles and laughter to our house. every month that has passed since their one year birthday, they have changed so much. they are so full of life and at night, i have to say that i just crash. from the minute we hear their squeals and laughter in the morning, i have on my running shoes and don't stop until they are ready for bedtime. what are the girls doing now you ask?

-they love, love, love to sing! the new favorite is muppy mam do, translated to do you know the muffin man. we sing that and "sunshine" about 40-50 times a day.
-they know the first five letters of the alphabet and can recognize them if you show them the letter
-they know all their colors and point to everything and tell you what color it is
-they know the basic shapes
-i have stopped counting the numbers of words that they know because they say everything. drew and i have to be very careful of anything we say because they are both little mimics
-my favorite is when they do something new and yell out, "i did it!"
-they try to dress themselves including taking off and putting on their diapers. we are still working on potty training. some days that goes well, other days, they just aren't interested.
-they can name everyone in our immediate family and will list them all at night when we say our prayers. the sweetest is when they kiss baby finley. they know she is in my tummy.
-they say, "mommy/daddy hug you." which means they want drew or i to hold them.

but most of all, they still amaze me everyday. how smart they are, how beautiful they are and how much and how fast they are growing. they still have that ability to take my breath away.

happy birthday preslee and mason!

Mae-Mae Stinks

at 20 months, drew and i have been really blessed that the girls, up until last week have taken two naps a day. it has been a little difficult transitioning them, but we are finally getting the hang of it. until today.....a subject came up that i never imagined having to address. i put the girls down for their nap in the afternoon and about 20 minutes into it, i heard preslee screaming hysterically. usually, i let them cry it out for a few minutes if they wake up, but she just didn't stop and it got progressively more worrisome. so, i went into the nursery to find her standing up in her crib, sobbing, with huge tears rolling down her face. mason was sound asleep in her crib. i said, "preslee, what's the matter?" she, with a perfectly innocent face said, "mae-mae (that's what she calls mason) poo-poo'd, she stinky! i did a double take and said, what? she repeated herself.

what do i do now? do i wake mason and change her or let preslee get up only 30 minutes into naptime? to be honest, preslee was right, it did stink. luckily mason heard us talking and woke up. i changed her and they laid right back down, sound asleep in 10 minutes.

i always envisioned the girls wanting to share a room for many years to come. will this be the issue that will separate them?

Baby Finley

tonight when i was rocking the girls to sleep, we said our prayers and after listing all of our family members, preslee said, "and finney." that's what they call baby finley. then mason, all on her own leaned over and kissed my belly and said, "kiss finney." when i first found out i was pregnant i would talk to the girls about the baby all of the time. in just the last week or so, they have started to ask me about her and mention her at night when we say our prayers. it is so sweet watching them, at only 20 months old, really start to bond with their baby sister. i can't wait to rock all three of my sweet girls.

Craft week at our House

this week we had two rainy, cold days and i had to pull out some "old faithful" craft ideas. the first day went well. the girls liked glueing tissue paper on a paper plate and then ripping it off. today we decided to try fingerpainting. it started out neatly. i wrapped their high chair trays with aluminum foil (less mess, you know?) then they ripped that off and decided to "wash" their bodies and hair with the paint. thank you crayola for non toxic, washable paint. the morning ended up with them in the kitchen sink for a bath and then down for a long nap.

And her name is.........

drew and i have, after much deliberation FINALLY decided on a name for our sweet baby girl. it was so much harder to decide on one name versus two when i was pregnant with the girls. we have thought about it so much, gotten lots of opinions from friends and family and have decided on:

finley clark beynon.

finley because we just love it and it is different like preslee and mason and clark after drew's grandfather.

we are only 3 1/2 months away from meeting you baby finley and we can't wait!

Princess Mommy

preslee and mason have become obsessed with princesses lately. they call themselves "printess". so today, we were out running errands and preslee said, "me, printess pressy." then mason said, "me, printess mase." i just started to laugh and heard preslee say and ,"printess mommy." my heart just swelled. i know, years down the road, i won't always be princess mommy, but for today, i'll take it!

21 week appt

yesterday was our 21 week OB appt. drew was out of town for work, so i took the girls with me. it was great for my ob to see them and see how much they had grown since she delivered them almost 20 months ago. when the nurse used the doppler to hear the baby's heartbeat, preslee and mason immediately stopped chatting and became so quiet. she explained to them that what they were hearing was the baby's heartbeat. so, the rest of the afternoon, they would say to anyone who would listen, "hear baby's heart." dr. weitz asked them where the baby was and they now point to my stomach and say, "mommy's tummy." i never imagined that they would even remotely understand what was happening and that we were going to have another baby in 3 1/2 months, but i think they are getting it a little. when i ask them if they are having a brother or sister, mason always says sister, but preslee still says brother. boy, will she be surprised!

Our Secret

our sweet little girl is moving all over the place. she is moving way more than i ever remember preslee and mason, probably because they had limited space and were so squished. she has the suite all to herself and has plenty of room to move. for weeks, it has just been our little secret, only i could feel her, but this morning, drew was able to feel her for the first time. it was so amazing to share our secret with him. i can't wait for the girls to feel it too!

20 weeks

so many friends and family have asked for updated belly pics of baby girl beynon #3. well, here they are, the long awaited 20 week pictures.

All before 8am

this morning as preslee and mason were eating blueberry yogurt for breakfast, i heard mason say, "wash, mama, wash." when i turned around, they were both washing their hair with their yogurt.

the only thing to do was stick them in the pool for a bath.

Meeting Isabella

last week preslee and mason got to meet their new cousin isabella for the first time. they were so sweet with her. mason was a little unsure and just held back watching her, but preslee, little mommy, jumped right in, rubbing her head and saying, "nice." they are going to make the best big sisters!

Kiss

today drew went to the ravens game so the girls and i decided to spend part of the afternoon at the tot lot in rodgers forge. it was a gorgeous day outside and the park was packed. preslee and mason loved the swings, going down the slide and just running everywhere. at one point, they were inside a little house playing when a cute little boy walked in. all of a sudden, i heard him scream, his dad ran over and i looked inside the house. preslee had each of his cheeks in her hands and very dramatically (movie star like) she tilted her little head and kissed him square on the lips! then she said kiss and tried to lean in for another. i think it scared the little boy to death, he just kept saying, she kissed me, she kissed me! it was such an innocent, sweet moment. drew wasn't too thrilled!

remember this picture?

Addendum

had to add an addendum to last night's post on milestones. tonight before her bath, mason pee-peed in the potty too. for those of you with toddlers, you know how big of a deal this is. we all clapped and preslee said no. i think maybe she wanted to be the only one doing it. drew and i are so proud of our little girls!

Milestone at our House

we have been working with the girls for several weeks now getting them warmed up to start potty training. we bought the video potty power which they love and i have been putting them on their potty chairs before and after naps, first thing in the morning and at bedtime. they always tell me when they have to potty and when they have already gone and demand to be changed immediately! well tonight preslee said, "potty mama." so we went upstairs, she sat on her potty and peed!!! drew and i did the potty dance and she clapped for herself! it was great. now she can teach mason. our babies are growing up!

Rocking and Rolling

for the last few weeks, i have felt the butterflies or gas bubble type feelings that you always feel with that first early movement, but on friday night, i really felt baby girl beynon actually kicking. it wasn't a flutter, it was a real kick as if to say, hey, i'm in here! i remember those first feelings with the girls and it brought back so many sweet memories. at this point, drew can't feel it yet, so it's just a secret that her and i share. i know this will be the closest that i will ever be to her and it's such an amazing feeling. although i get more anxious by the day to meet her, i love these special moments with just the two of us.

Happy Birthday Isabella

we have a new niece. isabella grace beynon was born this morning, 7 pounds 10.6 ozs, 20 1/2 inches long. she is the sweetest thing. i can't wait for preslee and mason to meet her. happy birthday isabella!
