Lucy Comes Home

as most of you know, we lost heidi in march of this year. she got sick really fast and we lost her really fast. looking back, i guess that was a blessing. she never got to a point that she was in a lot of pain and for that, i am glad. but, my heart still aches. i miss her so much. i can't think about her without tearing up. she was my heart for so long. heidi was with me when i decided it was time to grow up and leave my home in pensacola. together, we headed across the country, knowing no one to san diego, ca. she was with me the whole way!

so when drew proposed the idea of getting a new dog, i said, "absolutely no." i wasn't ready. i just couldn't yet. but as the months went on, i knew he needed it and the girls too. almost daily, they talk about how much they miss heidi. they needed a new little puppy to love.

we decided to get a golden doodle puppy. we found an amazing breeder in kentucky and she started sending us weekly pictures of our new baby. finally the day for her to come home had arrived. john and drew made the trip to get her. the girls decided on the name lucy, they were calling her that before she ever came to us. they were so excited!

it has taken some getting used to. i had forgotten how having a new puppy was like having a newborn. but we love her so much! she is the sweetest thing and so similar, but yet so different from heidi. she is the perfect addition to our home! and so darn cute.....
