how is it that we are here again on the 14th of the month and i am just in awe that time is passing so fast. i have been so focused on christmas and our january birthdays that i totally let it slip up on me that today, you are 11 months old! 11 months ago today, you were 12 hours old, everyone had left the hospital and it was the two of us. you were so tiny and so warm and cuddly. the nurse came in and suggested i let her take you to the nursery so i could get some sleep, but little did she know, that wasn't ever going to happen. i was supposed to put you in your bassinet to sleep, but i carefully put pillows all around you to keep you safe because i wanted you to sleep there, cuddled up next to me. and there you have been for the last 11 months. your daddy jokes that we are soul mates with some hidden language that only the two of us understand.
what are you doing now? you are still nursing three to four times a day and at bedtime. you have had a rough last month with a really bad cold so that has disrupted your sleep quite a bit. we have been spending lots of early morning hours together. still eating so good, with just the two teeth. i keep thinking that anyday, i am going to see another one pop up, but so far, nothing. you are crawling, like lightning everywhere! i can't keep you off the stairs. we just brought out the baby gates today. you are cruising and grab onto anything to get you where you want to be. i see you contemplating your first step, but you are still a little timid. don't rush it baby!
you loved watching us decorate the tree and will sit and stare at the lights. i think you are going to have so much fun opening gifts at christmas and just taking it all in. we went to see santa and you cried except when i held you. then you grabbed his hair and laughed! your favorite word is ball. you point to anything that is round and say ball with the sweetest southern twang. it makes your mamaw proud! you say heidi, mama, "ite" for light, book and nana for banana.
we are 30 days away from your birthday and what a celebration it will be. finley, you complete our family and i am so blessed to be your mommy. this "almost" year has been amazing and i can't imagine life without you in it. you have an amazingly sweet personality and everyone who is around you just can't get enough of you. your smile lights up the darkest of rooms and your laugh is the most amazing sound. i love you baby!

Happy Birthday precious little Finley. Laura...remember when everyone else was having babies and you thought you never would? Well, I knew God would bless you one day when the time was right. He gave you and Drew 3 precious little angels! We love them all dearly and thank God everyday for them and for the joy they've brought into our lives.
Laura! She's so cute...and Halle has the EXACT same outfit from Gymboree...she wore it tonight for Christmas Eve!!
