As a child, I have always loved the 4th of July. The food, the fireworks and just being together with all of our friends. The last few years the girls have just been little and not really into the whole fireworks thing. Last year, we went to the beach and Drew and I watched them by ourselves. The kids fell asleep and never even saw the show.
But this year, was SO different. Down the street from us the county built a new park that we play at often. They opened that this year for the fireworks shows on Saturday night. So, we got a big group together and everyone brought TONS of food, drinks and fun games for the kids and made a whole afternoon/evening out of it. It was a blast! It wasn’t super crowded which was great and we all just hung out and were able to enjoy the night while our kids played.
We have already gotten our group together for next year and are secretly putting in dibs for which tables we want, haha!
We couldn’t let the “actual” 4th of July, we still had to have our own fireworks show. Drew, Kevin and Christopher went to Pennsylvania earlier in the week for the “real” fireworks and put on a show that did not disappoint. We invited a bunch of friends over and after dinner watched the show from our driveway. The guys built some sort of contraption to launch them from and took them across the street. I have to say, their show was every bit as good as what we saw at the park on Saturday night. If you listened closely, you even heard the Star Spangled Banner being sung!
