8am: awake and extremely uncomfortable. i remember feeling like i was just swellling and swelling. ate breakfast and settled in for another day in the hospital. my nst went fine. babies look great! dr weitz came in to see me and let me know that i wasn't looking so good. (thanks dr. weitz!) and if anything changed we would be delivering the babies sooner.
12 noon: more labs drawn.
12:30 pm: the nurse came in to let me know that my labs weren't great and i was in HELLP syndrome. this is where your liver enzymes are elevated and your platelets are really low. dr. weitz would be in at 430pm and the nurse was to prepare me for my csection. it was happening! our babies were going to be born today! i immediately called drew to track down everyone and make sure that they could be at the hospital.
330pm: everyone is anxiously waiting in our room. i was prepped and ready. prayers were said and all of the last minute phone calls were made.
400pm: here we go! as we were wheeled down the hallway towards the or, i started to cry. i couldn't believe that we were in the last few moments before we would meet our baby girls. last minute prayers were said for a safe, speedy surgery and health for our precious little ones.
500pm: we are waiting in the or for dr. weitz. i have already had my spinal and am comfortable on the table. dr. weitz walks in and assures us that all four of us are going to be fine. the nicu teams are in place. there is a respiratory therapist, 2 nurses and a neonatalogist for each baby. the or is very crowded!
530pm: drew and i are talking and i don't even realize that the first incision has been made. in the next few minutes we are going to meet preslee!
547pm: this minute was the most beautiful minute of my entire life...i heard preslee's weak little cry. i was a little worried that she sounded so soft, but the nurses assured me that she was fine. the next thing i knew it was a minute later and i heard the loudest, welcome to the world cry ever, it was mason! she was tiny, but boy was she loud.
Preslee Grace weighed 4 pounds, 12.2ozs and was 17 1/2 inches long
Mason Elizabeth weighed 3 pounds, 14ozs and was 17 1/4 inches long

Hi, I found your blog through a google alert I have set for HELLP syndrome. Happy to hear things turned around and went well for you and your babies. Looks like they are doing superb!
I'm a HELLP survivor myself. My daughter was born in 2003 and weighed about the same as your's, 4lbs.

Congrats on your beautiful baby girls. I'm also a HELLP syndrome survivor (I have the same google search set up) living in the Baltimore/Washington area.
