The Story of Preslee and Mason

on june 26, 2006, i took a home pregnancy test that revealed (very quickly, i might add) that we were pregnant! we were absolutely ecstatic!! this wasn't an easily conceived pregnancy, but after many prayers and hopes for the future, our dream had finally become a reality!


july 6, 2006
today brought even more exciting news! all that morning sickness i had been having wasn't for nothing......we were expecting twins!!! we had always imagined our family starting with one baby and now God had blessed us with two!



july 20, 2006
today was the day that we saw our precious little babies hearts beating for the very first time. it was the most amazing sight we had ever seen! all the negative pregnancy tests and tears we had cried in the past were forgotten in this one special moment.



at exactly 6 weeks, morning sickness started. except it wasn't just in the morning, it was all day sickness. nothing that i ate or didn't eat, did or didn't do made it go away. i was hospitalized once for dehydration and started on zofran. after a few weeks of taking this medicine, it did subside a little, but wasn't completely gone until 20 weeks.

october 8. 2006
drew was right! it was two beautiful little baby girls! we couldn't believe it! the nursery was painted, furniture ordered and assembled and mom and amy started making curtains and bumper pads. our nursery was going to be fit for a queen or in our case.....two queens. baby a and baby b became known as preslee grace and mason elizabeth.





november 14, 2006
at this ob appt, we learned that mason was quite a bit smaller than preslee. dr. weitz was afraid that she wasn't growing and ordered bedrest at home, on my left side. so my days became filled with internet shopping, lots of general hospital and oprah and drinking so much water!

january 15, 2007
dr. weitz feels like the girls are doing great, everyone is growing and i was allowed off of bedrest. i immediately hit target and bru to finish up all my last minute shopping. only a few more weeks until the girls will be here.....or so we thought!

today was my second NST. i noticed that over the weekend i had gained quite a bit of weight and was starting to feel really puffy and tight all over. thinking that it was only "end of pregnancy swelling," i ignored it. well, dr. weitz didn't. after some blood and urine were sent, she diagnosed me with pre-eclampsia and promptly admitted me to gbmc hospital high risk unit. long story short, as the days wore on, my bp became higher and higher and my protein levels were skyrocketing! the babies were still moving and shaking, but i was really starting to slow down.
