9 Months Old

i read a quote recently that said "having kids is like taking your heart out of your chest and watching it walk around." i am reminded daily how lucky i am to have you two precious little girls in my life, my peanut and my itty bitty and the joys in watching you grow up. i can't believe you will be nine months old tomorrow. 9 months ago tonight, i had no idea how the next 24 hours would change my life forever. i was in the hospital, with absolutely no idea that tomorrow would be your birthday and that your daddy and i would finally be meeting the beautiful baby girls that we had waited so long for.

babies you still are, but i see glimpses of the little ones you are going to grow into-bits and pieces of who you are. preslee, your curiousness and fascination for life will reward you 100 times over. you will always see the new exciting things that each day has to bring. i know you will enjoy life to the fullest. mason, you are so tiny, but oh so mighty. there is absolutely nothing that you aren't afraid to try! your fearlessness will bring you so many amazing experiences.

there are many sweet things you have learned in the past few months, those tug at mommy's heart strings moments and you have already learned to use them to your advantage. when i walked into the living room this morning and saw you both clapping your hands while you were watching your praise baby dvd, i thought oh my gosh, they get it. i had just showed you how to clap a few days ago and now you are doing it all on your own!

you both love to reach up at my face, point at my nose and "beep" it with your fingers (daddy's nose "honks" due to the size) and you love to play with my eyelashes. often you will distract me when you are supposed to be getting ready for bed and are just too cute that I forget what we are really trying to get accomplished and we play for a bit. both of you give the best kisses and hugs when we ask for them, opening your mouth and planting your lips on our cheeks and then will do a proud wiggle dance for your accomplishment. you also both love the phone and giggle when you hear daddy on the speaker. in the last month, you are both crawling, standing and trying to cruise! nothing is safe in our house anymore!

mason, you are becoming a sweet, independent and spirited little girl. you are full of smiles and baby girl giggles. preslee, i love watching you scour the room for someone to make eye contact with you so you can smile. your smile makes my whole day. while i can't wait to discover more surprises and share so many more life experiences with you, please be kind to mommy's heart strings. don't grow up too fast. i love spending all these precious moments with you.

Laura,
Your thoughts capture so well with the joys of being a Mom. As one of their proud grandparents, I love reading your words and knowing how much you and Drew treasure these babies. Your descriptions of precious Preslee and magnificent Mason are just perfect! I too, am constantly amazed at how different, yet how similar they are. We are all so blessed!
