as i sat down on the steps and watched them for a few minutes, i started to cry. i began to thank God for my two healthy, beautiful little girls. i thank him everyday, but i often feel like the words "thank you" just aren't enough for how blessed drew and i are. every night on the news there are horrible stories that remind me of how scary our world is. such suffering and sadness. but right here in our little home, is so much happiness.
the night before preslee and mason were born, i wrote each one of them a letter. at the time, i had no idea that it was actually the night before i would finally meet them. in the letter, i shared with each of them the struggle that drew and i went through to have them and how much we wanted them to be a part of our lives. how excited we were when we found out that they were on the way and how badly we wanted to be the perfect parents for them. while i was updating their baby books today (they are doing so much now, it has taken me weeks to finally do this), i found these letters, but also something else that i had started writing one afternoon while watching the girls nap in the nicu. i realized that i had started it, but hadn't added to this list in awhile, so here it is.
the things i love most about being preslee and mason's mommy
1). being pregnant. simply stated, i loved it. every single moment of it.
2). feeling them move around and kick. it was something only i could feel.
a secret between just the three of us.
3). hearing the girls cry for the first time. i will never ever forget how
it sounded or the feeling that washed over me in that instant.
4). the first kiss. i remember how their fresh new skin felt. warm, soft and so sweet smelling.
5). the first time i held them. i had a csection so it was two days
later before i could hold little mason and another whole day before i
got to cuddle with sweet preslee. i was so happy i was fighting back
tears of joy with the biggest smile on my face.
6). the day that they got to come home. the were asleep the whole way. so
small in the carseat, we had to pad it with towels and blankets.
7). watching them sleep and dying for them to wake up just so i can hold
them.
8). the cute little preemie clothes that were still way too big!
9). just holding them. period.
10). sleeping with them.
11). never being alone.
12). their honest and unconditional love.
13). making them laugh.
14). saying "boo" at them, only to see a huge smile!
15). when they reach for me to hold them.
16). teaching them to say mama and dada.
17). kisses (preslee opens her whole mouth and gives you a big drool)
18). hugs
19). having the best two reasons to be proud
20). when i am driving i flip down my mirror and they will always smile back
at me in their carseat mirrors. they think i am the coolest thing.
21). how they wake up smiling. who could ever be so happy to wake up?
22). watching them grow and become more independent, but then turn around
to make sure that i am still there.
23). they believe in me.
24). the future

I could list 24,000 reasons why we love having you in the family..but if you ask for just one, I'd have to say it's your love.
We love you too. And your blog is a big hit with the people at work!

You made me cry...You are blessed to have two amazing little girls and they are just as lucky to have a mom that realizes just how blessed she is...does that make sense?
I agree with Jamie. All the reasons were wonderful and they brought tears to my eyes. It's great reading about the girls. I look forward to every new entry!
Love,

This brought a smile to my heart (and mouth). Such sweet, true words. And a beautiful time in your life, I see you cherish every moment. God Bless you all.
OMG you made me cry! I am so happy for you, you have a blessed life! Reading this really makes me stop and realize how blessed I am too. I get so caught up in the single, working mom thing! I love you
Beautiful post. I love the names you picked out for both of them. What inspired you to name them that?
